CADES COVE & THE GREAT SMOKY
MOUNTAINS

SEPT. 24th-26th, 2010

FRIDAY EVENING 7:00 PM THROUGH 12:00 SUNDAY AFTERNOON

This shorter version of our Field Class is set up for the photographer that are just getting into nature photography or the person who has been "taking pictures" for a little while but would like some help on creating better images. During this weekend in the Great Smoky Mountains we'll discuss lighting, composition, exposure, techniques and equipment. A lot of our time will be spent in the Cades Cove area of the park. Here we'll work on getting professional quality images of the old buildings and of the landscapes.

September is great time for nature photography in the park. The morning light in Cades Cove is incredible and normally in September the morning dew is heavy on the grasses. This a great time for morning close ups of insects and spider webs.  One of the fastest ways of improving the quality of your images is through better composition and vision; we'll put strong focus on that aspect of this program.

We will also visit the Tremont and Little River Road areas for learning about photographing creek scenes. Both areas provide some of the best creek scenes in the park. We'll concentrate on filling the frame, angles, slow shutter speed verses fast shutter speed and using a polarizer around water. Sunrise and sunset from the mountain peaks will also be possible subjects.

Notes:  The cost of this workshop is $250 and includes notes and lunch on Sunday.  The workshop will be based from the Talley Ho Hotel in Townsend, TN. Lodging is not included.
